Glenfiddich 14 Year Bourbon Barrel Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed October 28, 2017Not a bad whisky, but if I want to drink bourbon I'll drink bourbon. If I want to drink scotch I'll drink scotch. Trying to get the best of both worlds in a single bottle just doesn't work for me. -
Bowmore Small Batch
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 25, 2017 (edited October 3, 2017)Great "budget" Islay single malt. Very pleasant nose of vanilla, honey, and peat smoke. Peat is more than present, but doesn't overpower. Very balanced, as is the palate. If you're interested in an Islay scotch, but $60-$90 isn't in your budget, I'd give this one a try. -
Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 21, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)Every time I think I understand why everyone likes this bourbon, I finish my glass and wonder why? This doesn't seem any better than Buffalo Trace to me. Nice nose of oak, caramel and cola, but too bitter on the palate for such a high corn, low rye mash bill. Save a few bucks and be happy with Buffalo Trace. -
Benromach 10 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed September 14, 2017 (edited October 3, 2017)Great speysider with a delicate hint of smoke....and not the burning rubber type. Makes me want to have barbeque while I'm sipping! Nice change of pace from your typical speyside scotch.
