Little Book Chapter 4: Lessons Honored
Blended American Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 17, 2021 (edited March 22, 2021)This presents a nose dominated by peanut brittle, butterscotch, and whole grain cereal. The blend of this whiskey makes for an interesting palate of honey, nuts, and salted caramel. I love Beam's exploration of rice bourbons. The finish was medium-long, which was a little disappointing. For the proof, this whiskey does not drink very hot, which I find to be the case with a lot of Beam cask strength releases.130.0 USD per Bottle -
A pleasant nose of clove, cherry, tobacco, maple syrup, and raisin. On the tongue, I found this to drink pretty hot, almost unpleasant. After that, I got toffee, cinnamon, and a trace of butterscotch. This bourbon finish is medium long. It really opened up after a couple small drops of water. For the price, I'm sticking to Old Forester 1920...150.0 USD per Bottle

Light oak on the nose, followed by honey, apple, brown sugar, and possibly a bit of cream soda. The taste on this older whiskey is interesting, being a thick mouthfeel led by bright floral notes and mint. The finish is only medium, which was slightly disappointing, but a nice balanced whiskey.150.0 USD per Bottle

Knob Creek 12 Year Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 16, 2020 (edited May 20, 2020)Certainly not bad bourbon, but not sure it's worth the price, in my opinion. I'd prefer the 120 proof store picks that I've had at a lower price. Not terribly different or more complex than standard KC.70.0 USD per Bottle
