George Dickel 8 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed April 25, 2022 (edited June 17, 2022)Nice flavors of caramel, vanilla and brown sugar. This bourbon is super drinkable, smooth and easy drinking. The only knock here is that it feels like it's missing something in the mid palate, but at this ridiculous price point I'm totally ok with it39.99 USD per Bottle -
Nashville Barrel Single Barrel Straight Rye
Rye — USA
Reviewed May 20, 2021 (edited September 10, 2022)Gorgeous, smooth, light, delicate and surprisingly fruity. Cherry and grape cover to mind. yeasty, doughy notes too. There's some nice heat in the finish, this is really a treat. A bourbon drinkers scotch, for sure. -
Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 15
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 27, 2021 (edited July 22, 2021)Usually a big fan of stagg jr, but this release disappointed a bit. All the bombastic wood, cherry and vanilla are there a but there's a hint of TCA or "corked" for my fellow wine nerds out there -very similar to the EH Taylor 4 grain from several years ago, which is definitely not my cup of tea -
Starlight Single Barrel Huber's Old Rickhouse Indiana Rye
Rye — Indiana, USA
Reviewed December 22, 2020Scorched caramel and prominent warm rye spice dominate the palate. Some orange rind and some hot pepper as well floating in the background. The alcohol balance is a little out of whack and drinks a touch hot for the 114.2 ABV. This SKU gets a ton of hot press, maybe this wasn't the barrel for me... -
Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 11, 2020 (edited December 30, 2020)Nice warmth, classic brown sugar and caramel, perhaps a little cooked apricot as well. Hints of cherry and cinnamon. Quite round and surprisingly easy drinking.99.99 USD per Bottle -
Herradura Double Barrel Reposado Tequila
Tequila Reposado — Tequila Valley, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed November 24, 2020Tasting the "King of Kebtucky" barrel release, and boy is this good. The KoK barrels add a bit of smoke and contribute some sweetness, but it remains light and somewhat delicate. Super smooth, strong vanilla notes, classic Herradura agave flavors and warmth. Incredible value.43.99 USD per Bottle -
TINCUP American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Indiana (bottled in Colorado), USA
Reviewed November 17, 2020 (edited December 7, 2020)Sweet, spicy and smooth. With all the prices skyrocketing, Tin Cup represents a great value. Effectively an MGP High Rye Bourbon, it's a great sipper anytime. Fruit notes of apricot and peach, aromas of vanilla with a hint of toffee and caramel. Drink neat, on the rocks, in a cocktail, this is never out of place54.99 USD per Bottle -
Virginia Distillery Co. Courage & Conviction Dr. George G. Moore Batch
American Single Malt — Virginia, USA
Reviewed October 2, 2020A noseful of sweet barley. The palate is smooth as silk. Apple, caramel and subtle vanilla notes dominate. There's an intriguing hint of sweetness blowing around in the background. Can't wait for more from these guys. -

Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 1, 2020 (edited February 27, 2021)63.6abv (not sure of the "vintage"). Massive bourbon, gobs of cherry, vanilla and some subtle herbaceous notes. Plenty of wood here serving as the backbone. Borderline raucous, but enough restraint to keep it from going completely overboard. This bourbon is a true accomplishment. Warning: Not for the faint of heart.
