Tastes

I'm not a "rye guy" but this is one of the best ones I've had. Less spicy and briney and more sweet than the pro-review, but not by much. I could see this becoming one of my regulars.

The nose and first half of the medium length finish is amazing. Full of vanilla and Carmel. Right in the middle is an unpleasant wall of wood chips and herbs. Following this a burnt fudge and burnt nuts. The rest of the finish attempts to make up for the middle part but falls just short not being able to shake the burnt aftertaste.

Dark rum. A lot a molasses like influences.

I had written off sour mashes. This has redeemed them. The funk is more subtle and over all flavors more refined.

Chocolate cake, ginger snaps, lemon meringue, licorice, coffee

So amazing. Reminds me of Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel.
