The best tequila I've had so far, but not against much competition. Compared to my typical whisky experience, it was MUCH sweeter, especially on the nose, and had a distinct agave characteristic on the finish. Still, quite enjoyable once I got past the sweet nose. Excited to try a few other high-end tequilas (DJ1942, Don Pilar XA) for comparison.80.0 USD per Bottle

English Whisky Company Peated Single Malt
Single Malt — England
Reviewed May 10, 2019 (edited November 5, 2023)This is for a “The Whisky Exchange” custom bottling. Solid peated Malt here. Comes through much fresher than Islay-style peat with subtle vanilla and oak in the mid-palate. Fairly rich and malty as well...this is a really strong expression. -
Balblair 1990 2nd Release
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 12, 2019 (edited July 10, 2019)Compared to the 1999 3rd (18 years old) this one is much darker in every way...Nose is actually similar with this one focusing more on the stewed fruits, but the palate is where the experience jumps dramatically. This 1990 ~25 year old is super sticky and rich, without being syrupy. Closest comparison would be the Highland Park The Dark 17 year old, which was a lighter version of this for twice the price. Balblair knocked it out of the park with this one, and comparing against the younger brother definitely enhanced the quality of the 1990. Grab this (or the 1991) while you still can. -
Balblair 1999 2nd Release
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 12, 2019 (edited April 17, 2019)Starts out a bit shy, with classic soft green apple and brown sugar on the nose with stewed fruits and vanilla on the palate. After a while, the palate gets spiky-er and more complex, with brighter berries coming through. 89/100 -
Powers John's Lane Release 12 Year
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed March 18, 2019 (edited October 14, 2019)Surprised I hadn’t heard much about this one. My Green Spot is on it’s last legs and I picked this up to follow it. The Powers is similar to Green Spot but just a little darker on the fruits, while coming across as more refined, buttery, and elegant. Beautiful Irish whisky that flies under the radar.65.0 USD per Bottle -
Auchentoshan The Bartender's Malt
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 18, 2019 (edited December 17, 2020)Really pleasantly surprised by this one! Got it as a gift as my first Lowland bottle, though I’ve tried the Auchentoshan 12 and 18 samplers and was generally unimpressed. But this NAS expression hits a great combo of Irish and Scotch, coming across like a Green Spot with a bit extra ‘seaside bite’. Like a cross between Irish and Campbeltown styles. So yeah very much enjoyed this one, and will be coming back to it on the regular! -
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed December 5, 2018 (edited March 17, 2019)Packs a serious punch...even compared to other barrel proof bourbons. But it’s pure banana bread in liquid form, which is just incredible. 90/100
