West Virginia Fruit and Berry 304 Mountain Blackberry
Flavored Whiskey — West Virginia, USA
Reviewed September 9, 2020 (edited September 18, 2020)I’m tasting this, but I wish I wasn’t. At first whiff it sort of smells like pop tart filling but that quickly dissipates. What it leaves behind...how to describe it... Ever make Kool Aid and forget to add sugar, and also don’t stir it well so it’s clumpy? This smells like that, with a pervasive grain alcohol smell coming through. I can’t tell if they’ve ruined a fine 4 year bourbon or masked a terrible one with fruit extract. Sickeningly sweet and completely undrinkable. I guess I’ll see what cocktails might salvage this mess. -

Rabbit Hole Heigold Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 9, 2020 (edited December 4, 2020)So much going on in the nose: brown sugar, cinnamon toast, butterscotch, rye bread. The palate is a little tamer, boasting lush oak and rye toast. The finish is medium-long with lingering peppery rye spice. -
Rabbit Hole Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 9, 2020 (edited January 22, 2021)I was a little skeptical because it catches a lot of hate but I was a fan. Deep and rich, with a prominent powdered sugar note for me. The finish was a little messy as I recall but otherwise a great bourbon. -
Knob Creek 15 Year Bourbon (2020 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 9, 2020 (edited October 10, 2020)A calmer (especially in the nose), dryer, more refined version of the 12 year. This one is deep, but I may actually prefer the 12. Still, I need to remember to get my own bottle of this.
