Early Times Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 24, 2022 (edited August 24, 2022)On the nose is an immediate (and very expected) ethanol burn, which quickly dissipates and is followed by warm vanilla and toffee, light toasted oak and a touch of orange peel At the forefront of the palate is toasted oak and baking spices with vanilla following close behind (though not as pronounced as the nose would lead you to believe). There is slight bitter orange peel note lingering, though not unpleasant. The finish is medium-short with lingering baking spice and that touch of vanilla Impressive dram? Not necessarily; however, it makes for an easy drinker and an excellent cocktail bourbon, especially for the price! Cheers!23.99 USD per Bottle -
Blanton's Straight From the Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 21, 2022 (edited February 27, 2022)The nose gives an initial, deceptively light burn given the 120+ proof. The burn is then enveloped in a rich, dark fruit aroma with a touch of warm brown sugar and light baking spices. On the palate it delivers on the promises of deep, intense dark fruit and warm baking spices, then followed by light toasted oak as well as a dryness that lovingly coats the tongue. The finish lingers long and warm with the dark fruit dominating the remainder of the experience. All in all, this is an incredible pour that is worth a try at least once for everyone! My final thought is just how surprisingly pronounced the dark fruit notes are! Had I not known what this was, I would have assumed it was finished in sherry or port casks. Cheers!
