Nose is lemony, something sweet tries to come through, something grassy or green. Nothing deep -- it's all light. Palate seems weak and stretched a bit thin. Nothing really jumps out. Perhaps I am looking for something that isn't there. Maybe it's newer oak? Maybe I'd like this better at 40% instead of 43% (and this is 43%). It's warm (maybe a little hot?) and oaky and lemon / citrus and spicy. Ginger? Pepper-y? Maybe. Oak? Definitely. White oak. Not as sweet as I'd like it to be. Not as nuanced or remarkable as I'd like it to be from Macallan, but it is clean and light. Something unfinished. Maybe it needs time. Maybe you open it, have some and then let it sit in your cabinet for a while. Scotch doesn't last *that long in my house, though, although I will try and do so and come back to it. For the price I'd say skip it. This is running about $75 in Cleveland, Ohio at most stores, March 2023. Pales in comparison to the (standard?) 12 year sherry cask offering from Macallan, so if you're looking for an entry-level Macallan to gauge your journey forward, go with the 12 year sherry cask -- it's a much more rewarding experience (of course, depending on what you are looking for). This isn't bad -- there's a lot to try and pull out from it, but just not what I'd hoped for from Macallan.75.0 USD per Bottle
