This is a better than average whiskey for the price. On the nose, the peat and smoke shines through with faint notes of oak. On the palate, peat and caramel meet the tongue first, then smoke and vanilla linger. Not super refined and still rough around the edges. A splash or two of water opens it right up. If you love peat and don't want to break the bank, can't go wrong with this 12yo, but for slightly more I'd go with a Laphroaig.

On the nose, clove, spices, and dried fruit shine through. On the palate, prominent notes of toffee, cloves, wood, and bubble gum come out unashamed. Finishing notes of bold bitter smoke remain in the palate for a prolonged period. This is not bad for the price. Sharp and strong notes and not smooth or rounded. A few more years of aging would've helped. But again for the price if you like bold whiskeys, the boldness of this will keep coming.

Singleton of Dufftown 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed March 12, 2021 (edited December 15, 2021)On the nose, the notes are all very faint. But on the palate, overwhelming notes of bubble gum, candy, caramel, with a random undesirable smoke note. I would not recommend this. I would not buy it again. There is no harmony with all the notes.
