Macallan Gold 1824 Series
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 13, 2021 (edited April 19, 2021)Light yet classy and aromatic. Unfortunately the flavour profile was lacking and the finish fails to linger on one's palate. Great for easy drinking though! NOSE: Oak, caramel, toffee, confectioners sugar, oranges, hint of grape PALATE: Oak, syrup, marzipan, ginger FINISH: Oak, barley, candied pineapple, raisins, slight tang Rating: 77/100 Grade: C+ Average - not good, not bad, just is. -
Smooth, easy drinking, with several fruity notes. I have a suspicion that there is likely caramel colour added. As much as I love The Dalmore's history, this 12 year is not the best value at $100 per bottle in my opinion. NOSE: Poached pears, mandarin oranges, apples, apple pie, toffee PALATE: Light smoke, peat, black pepper FINISH: Lingering peat, sea salt, dried cherries, oak, marzipan Rating: 82/100 Grade: B- Not-too-bad - no major flaws, worth tasting.99.99 USD per BottleBC Liquor Stores

It's unfortunate they stopped bottling this because it is a darn good whisky. Nose is very fragrant with lots of surprises - you can tell immediately that it will be a sweeter whisky. Your palate can confirm as it is the sweetness that immediately hits your tongue. The finish is lacking and diminishes rather quickly, but still a darn good whisky nonetheless. NOSE: Rose petals, plums, peaches, almonds, marzipan, maraschino cherries, nutmeg, subtle nori PALATE: Mandarin oranges, ripened plums, brown sugar, caramelized pears, canned peaches, honey FINISH: Oak, sea salt, lychee Rating: 88/100 Grade: B+ Great - always want to have a bottle.

Would recommend leaving your dram to air for about 10 minutes before nosing otherwise the alcohol is overwhelming. Whisky starts out sweet and full bodied, but eventually evolves into a saltier, spicier, and drier finish. NOSE: Molasses, dried cherries, plums, grapefruit, seaweed, gentle peat PALATE: Brown sugar, caramel, plums, salt and pepper FINISH: Oranges, lemon peel, tannins, Malbec Rating: 84/100 Grade: B Good - not a "must", but a nice-to-have.64.99 USD per Bottle
