Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2025 The Keepers Release
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 12, 2026 (edited April 24, 2026)Fucking delicious! Best Maker's bottle I've tasted in a while. Lots of oak, caramel, maple syrup in both taste and viscosity. Super sweet, a little funky in the best possible way. I can't quite decide if the funk is a salty/bring note, or a peppery/baking spice note, or an umami/savory note... or all the above, but either way, it sure does tickle my fancy. Reminds me a bit of the New Riff Single Barrel funk that to me is a teriyaki BBQ salty bacon sweetness that I also love. Except here in the Keeper's Release it's like the highly sophisticated 3 Michelin star version of that New Riff funk... if that makes any sense to anyone besides me. Yet still quintessentially Maker's Mark. I found it for 85.99 and worth every penny. Cheers!85.99 USD per BottleHonolulu Zoo -
Fresh crack review: Lots of oak in the nose, and some caramel, but not much else. The nose would make you think it's an 80-97 proofer, but don't be deceived. Once you sip it you forget all about the nose. Still lots of oak but very refined. None of those harsh oak tannin flavors. Sweet cinnamon candy and even some grape flavors ala Buffalo Trace products. Clean rye spice notes of pepper, grain, and a hint of mint. Overall very impressed. Super smooth easy sipper. Drinks a bit under the 104 proof, but delivers a lot of great flavor with a beautiful syrupy mouth feel. Only knock might be the proof if you're into the really high proof stuff, and the finish is a little short lived. I live in Hawaii and paid $99, but I'm not at all disappointed. In fact, I might buy a backup bottle

A bright and clean initial smokiness. Sweet and slightly salty, like a salted caramel chocolate bar, or a pralines & cream. Then a strong lingering citrus aftertaste with wisps of smoke. A very complex and rich whisky that's also somehow very light and refreshing, with a great mouth feel. An instant favorite!44.0 USD per Bottle
