The best bourbon for Manhattan’s, hands down.

This whiskey is growing on me. I bought it after thoroughly enjoying the Cedar Ridge Bourbon finished in port barrels, which is terrific. This is not that. It’s very light (just 40% abv) but it’s approachable and tastes, well, like a sweet grassy wheat field on a summer day with a little vanilla added in. No burn at the end. Do I like this over bourbon? No way, but it’s nice and soft for those kinda days.

A nice daily drinker and a solid value at $25. Doesn’t pull any punches and there’s no surprises here. Just a nice vanilla note with a slight oakey burn on the finish. Nothing fancy but you can’t go wrong for the money.

My go-to for making a Manhattan. Nice combo of oak and spice. Perfect.

Vanilla, a little Sugar Pops cereal, with some nice oak spice on the finish. Great daily drinker.

Great daily drinker. Smooth, creamy apricot with a little cherry at the end. Every day delicious.

Honey and eucalyptus on the nose, new wood and young leather on the taste with spike of oak and a bit of a thin, mineral note on the finish. Not great, but Texas whiskey to a tee. Kentucky bourbon it’s not, but it’s not trying to be Kentucky bourbon. Texas whiskey is bold and in your face. This is that.

A more well-rounded, fuller, more mature expression of Jim Beam. Warm spice, apple, with some woody notes at the end. One of the better bottled-in-bond expressions I have tasted.
