Honestly, it's not bad. It's just not my kind of bourbon. It's a mix between medicinal & astringent. I'm not really getting any sweetness after the rye bite. I want to like this bourbon after dropping $50, but it's just ok. Buffalo Trace is less than half and it's far more enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, it's not a crappy JD or JB, but for the money you can find better.

Made my wife buy a bottle of cheap bourbon to make bourbon chicken. (She used my Elijah Craig last time!) Kentucky Tavern is what she found. $10 for a big bottle. I figured I might as well try it. It's surprisingly sweet on the nose and has hints of orange and vanilla on the palette. Mild spice and little heat for the finish. Honestly not that bad. Not saying I would drink it on the regular, but I wouldn't shy away from serving it at a party or using it as a mixer. And of course, making bourbon chicken too!9.99 USD per Bottle

Woodford Reserve Straight Malt
Other Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 27, 2019 (edited March 11, 2020)I thought this was a great whiskey. Sweet, but I won't pretend to say that I tasted pudding, nuts, or maple syrup. I don't know what everyone else is talking about, all I taste is whiskey. Smooth and not pretentious. And excellent value.35.0 USD per Bottle -
Being fairly new to bourbon, quite honestly this is the best I have had so far. I enjoy whiskey from local sources for the feeling of supporting my hometown. However, it's hard to compare the relatively immature whiskey locally to something as smooth as mature as this whiskey. To the untrained palette, this is a very complex flavor profile. Reading the "professional" reviews makes me believe people are just making up flavors to describe it. I do agree with most of them in the fact that I highly recommend it as an evening sipping beverage. I find that two large ice cubes really wake up the flavor and chill it enough to make it enjoyable because of the flavor and the contrasting temperature on the tongue.50.0 USD per Bottle
