Glen Grant 15 Year Batch Strength 1st Edition
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 16, 2019The nose is lovely with honeydew melon, vanilla, oak, wood smoke, and custard. Taste is strong pepper, with some cream soda, and a creme brulee with a burnt sugar crust. Finish is smooth, long, with vanilla, oak, and barrel char. Great! Although the alcohol can be a bit nippy at times, it still beats the standard bottle offerings.67.99 USD per Bottle -
Koch el Mezcal Espadín
Mezcal Joven — Oaxaca, Mexico
Reviewed November 29, 2018 (edited April 6, 2020)When you first nose this you get one dominant note- Rubber! Think freshly paved road and that's essentially what your smelling. Once it opens up, then you get clay, mesquite wood ash, and roasted agave. Taste is similar, big rubber notes and lots of smoke, followed by a vegetal note/roasted agave, and mineral notes. It would be top shelf, but what brings it down is that it is very alcoholic. At times you can work with it and other times it gets very hot that it'll numb you.45.99 USD per Bottle -
Despite the raving press for Casamigos, it's generic stuff. Taste is sweet, with notes of barrel char and vanilla, and a slight alcohol kick. I found it a little thin while others that were tasting with me found it rather alcoholic and harsh. I attribute that to the char note which is really pronounced. Beside that I can't say it stands out from any other tequila on the market. Not memorable.

Gran Cava de Oro Tequila Extra Añejo
Tequila Extra Añejo — Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed November 29, 2018Tried this in Cabo at a tasting and I wasn't impressed. It's incredibly sweet to the point that I was thinking it was a synthetic taste. The low abv kills the spirit's power and lets the barrels take over to produce a thin, sugar water tasting concoction that resembles more of a poorly made rum than a fine aged tequila.
