To be honest, I was underwhelmed. I loved the presentation (the bottle is attractive in an ironically trying too hard kind of way), but the taste was just… nothing special.

Gives me a Heaven Hill-like vibe with the nuttiness and the darker cocoa-type of note. This bottle gets some bias points as well since it is “local” to me and since the first time I tried some, my wife and I were having a great evening. Kudos.

The oak comes through on the nose and the tannins hit the pallet. I prefer this over the 14-year cognac-finished Glenlivet offering, but honestly, I would rather have a pour of Glenfiddich 12 over both.

The cognac finish really comes through on the nose. Initially, the taste is smoky and the flavor dissipates pretty quickly. It’s a smooth, approachable drinker that can be appreciated by cognac enthusiasts.

Classic bourbon notes that coat the mouth well. My rating may be biased because it was the celebratory pour after my sister’s engagement with my brother-in-law and father, but it doesn’t matter. Still a great bourbon with a special significance now!

Good for volume and price, but there are better options at this proof and price point (Wild Turkey 101).

Probably my second or third favorite wheater (behind 2 Weller products), but awesome for the MSRP price!

Imagine a Christmas ham dinner in a cup; that is what this smells and tastes like. It’s my first Islay!

Good lord, I love this Wheater. Special Reserve, but turned up in terms of flavors and proof.
