I have been making a trip through the single malts and so far have enjoyed everyone completely. Then I come to this one. It does have a fruitness to it and to me it does kind of smell and taste like banana. Overall it is a scotch that is just sort of there. At $35 dollars it's drinkable, but nothing to write home about. This one will go on my don't buy again list.

Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 24, 2020 (edited November 28, 2020)The alcohol hits hard and fast, and to my taste completely overpowers any flavor coming in after it. Fortunately I was given this bottle and didn't pay money for it. -
Wild Turkey Longbranch
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 15, 2020 (edited November 17, 2020)The mesquite and oak are right out front on this one and if you aren't expecting that it will catch you by surprise. But give it a chance and I think you will enjoy the sweetness that comes through after that. All in all not to bad and just good enough that I might just have to keep some on hand. -
The smoke and peat hit like a freight train. People say it is like campfire smoke and they would be right. It is salty and fairly oily. It's very earthy and has a bit of ash to it. All in all not bad. I am usually a blended scotch guy with chivas 18 being my go to, so this is a drastic change in direction for me. Second try notes. I added two ice cubes and covered them and let it sit for a couple minutes. It definitely cuts down on the peat and smoke.58.0 USD per BottleKroger
