Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie Scottish Barley
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed April 8, 2018This one is so interesting, unpeated islay that challenges everything you think you know. Nice full mouth feel with some spicy smoke, that doesn’t have an earthiness to it. So I think that’s how I’d pull it apart from now on? Idk. It’s really tho! -
TINCUP 10 Year American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Indiana (bottled in Colorado), USA
Reviewed April 3, 2018Very in the middle for me. Nice and smooth with vanilla. But also a touch thin and something odd -
Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 31, 2018 (edited April 24, 2018)Very oaky, was pleasantly surprised by the rye spiciness. Not hot, but good spice! Good @ $41 -
Casamigos Añejo Tequila
Tequila Añejo — Highlands, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed March 20, 2018 (edited April 24, 2018)More black pepper, a bitterness, some nice fresh fruit. Let sit and open and it goes from barrel spice to smooth as a baby’s bottom with pepper. -
Laphroaig 10 Year Cask Strength (Batch 1)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed March 20, 2018 (edited April 12, 2018)Wow, where do I start? First off: the nose. MY GOD what a nose. Sweet rubbed BBQ and an earthly smoldering campfire. This is savory and smoky and amazing. The palate is a rush of spice and smoke, but rounded out well and easy to manage. Coats the mouth and develops for minutes upon end. This isn’t a beginners whisky, but one that can be enjoyed over and over to find a new adventure every time.
