Wild Turkey Bourbon 101
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 15, 2023 (edited September 17, 2023)Nose: Very sweet and creamy vanilla, corn and oak, fortified wine/raisins, flowery. Palate: Immediately sweet creamy corn and whipped cream vanilla, spicy pepper, fresh sweet oak, brown sugar, savory and slightly salted caramel and candy corn with slight bitter/sourness, tangy, fortified wine, sweet/drying combination in the mouth. Finish: Short-medium, slight lingering warming spice with other aformentained notes carrying in from the palate, aftertaste shortly blooms of candy cherry, or some red candied fruit, cinnamon apple pie, heavily roasted nuts/corn/barrel that lingers for minutes, hint of dried orange, smooth. Texture: Light-medium, a little watery and underwhelming. Great value 50-percenter.21.99 USD per Bottle -
This is a very decent go-to whiskey, and an easy sipper. Buttery popcorn, slightly creamy vanilla, bananas, peanuts, earthiness/vegetal characteristics, fresh oak, faint cherry, and spiciness in the back. Thicker and more oily than expected, with a long finish and aftertaste of corn, bananas and oak, and subtle bittersweet undertones. Flavors are subdued up front, but not off-putting and extremely easy to sip, but has a spicy burn on the very end. This reminds me of movie theater popcorn with the yellow butter, except without the salt, and reminds me of mellow corn in terms of the creamy buttery texture and flavor.16.0 USD per Bottle

Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition
Blended — Ireland
Reviewed August 9, 2023 (edited September 17, 2023)Really good, tastes like a sweet carribean rum. Ethanol and bananas on the nose, on the taste is creamy vanilla bakery notes, fresh oak woodiness, spicy, hefty amount of sugary sweetness for a whiskey, slight tart, slightly velvety texture but 40% abv is still very much apparent with how thin it feels, faint metallic shortbread dairy, fluffy, airy whipped cream aftertaste and slight oak and vanilla, very soft and easy to sip, not that funky, but also not super flavorful, lots of ethanol, and a bit of harshness sting/burn throughout, very clean alcohol taste (probably due to triple distillation). Great every day whiskey due to its sweetness and light flavor, maybe a little too great, because of how plush it is up front. Very rummy, and sweeter than some cheap bourbon. My first Jameson, and I like this one, so far. Second bottle I opened has less bite, is more savory, with more vanilla and hints of some kind of smoke, or burnt sugar. I do like the second bottle more, as it seems to have a little more flavor, and less sting/woodiness, but seems maybe just slightly thinner.18.99 USD per Bottle -
Amazing sipping rum. Incredibly sweet and drinkable. Haven't noticed the smoke, or complex flavors, but I'm not an expert whatsoever. On the nose, I get raisins, nuts, brown sugar, with hints of vanilla. On the palate, I taste a lot of brown sugar, caramel, oakiness, typical rum notes, and hints of pineapple/tropical fruits on the finish, so sweet and amazing, not incredibly thick, but has a really good texture for a 40%, and easy to drink. Much sweeter/more sugary and approachable than Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva without sugar being added in because the barrels that were used for the sherry have leftover sugar that transfers into the rum through additional years of aging, which makes it authentically sweet and more velvety, especially if you are purist about spirits; it's also better priced than the Diplomatico! The things I do not like so far, but hope to find throughout finishing the bottle is, the complexity of flavors, and smoke that was listed as well as the spices. Also, the finish is extended, but very light and medium length, or intensity of flavors, I'd say, but so far, this is a really underrated rum priced incredibly well, and doesn't need anything done to it to enjoy, just drink it straight up! Might be my new favorite rum! Update: This has grown on me after opening, getting more creamy buttery vanilla, molasses, brown sugar, and cinnamon raisin bread as well as coca cola notes. There's a nostril burn, spiciness, sourdough and savory quality that compliments it. More raisin and wine notes come out after putting in coffee (just to test the flavor). When drank out of a warm cup, it brings out more creamy and buttery vanilla, and I have yet to try it chilled, but it seems like either warm, or chilled, will bring out different texture, and characteristics, but seems more weirdly versatile than it seems.39.99 USD per Bottle
