You get what your pay for when it comes to four roses yellow label. It is noticeably thinner and less complex in both nose and palate. And burns more than it should for its low abv. But for the price it is ok I guess. Typical bottom shelf bourbon with hints of vanilla, nuts, caramel, all shallower than the higher ups.

Still a chivas regal in all its essence, which could be a plus for some, but lacks the oomph I was looking for. The mizunara finish gave it an almost maple syrup sweetness and consistency when it first hit the tongue , but only for a short while. Then it goes back to classic chivas generic whisky notes of woodiness, hint of peat and fruit. For the price I paid, i much prefer other scotch...

Although it's cheap. But even at that price point. There are better bourbons our there... The KG is just very bland and lack of character. Worse is I Can't really taste anything that makes a bourbon bourbon .

Mine is the 45 abv version. It's a great bourbon at msrp, but Definitely not worth paying secondary for it. Palate is a tad drier than I'd like. and a bit burny. nose is your bog-standard bourboney style of banana fruit peel, vanilla and butterscotch, with a strong honey presence that I really enjoy. If I remember correctly, Wt101 or ewbib are both better, with more body and smoothness on the mouth.

A nice blend of fruit and smoke. It's not as smooth as the higher ups. But for the price, it's one of the best dram you can have. Not a smoke fan but still enjoy this quite a bit

Just like the double oak beam, the Black has incredible nose of fruits, dried peel and banana. The problem lies in its taste, which can be described as bland at best. The difference between the nose and the actual palate is certainly ... Quite disappointing. For the price though, it's still an ok bottle

The biggest difference it had with other cheaper bourbons I tried is the extra layer of leather and nutty/earthiness on the nose , and more complexity overall, reflecting the meticulous blending that went into it. Noticeably thicker, more oily texture too.

On the nose, the similarities with Jim beam black and double oaked is uncanny. Full of banana, fruit peel and perfume, albeit in a less harsh way. The palate is where it shines. For a 45 abv. It is unbelievably smooth and less scorching, but u can definitely feel your esophagus warming up when it travels down. Good daily sipper!
