Bardstown Bourbon Co. Fusion Series #4
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed July 11, 2021 (edited October 21, 2021)Smoke on the nose. Attacked my mouth on multiple levels upon entry (in a good way). Finished spicey on a few levels (like fire works going off at different heights). I don’t know where it fits in the arsenal, maybe for making smokey drinks, or as a friendly night cap. Probably won’t replace the bottle once empty. -
Isaac Bowman Straight Bourbon Finished in Port Barrels
Bourbon — Virginia, USA
Reviewed July 11, 2021 (edited November 3, 2021)Had this neat. The nose has a little heat, even though the proof is low. The port finish encapsulates the mouth feel and delivers the flavor and spice to the finish, which is excellent. Tried with a little ice, and it broke down, due to proof. Was looking for something a little different and this is a great option. -
The nose on this is like the soft sound of a good band hitting you as you walk by the open door of a bar in summer - makes you want to go inside. Once inside your early suspicions are confirmed, this bourbon runs a good show. It hits perfectly in between daily drinkers like Bulleits / Buffalo Trace, and the more serious Old Forester 1920 / E. H. Taylor Single Barrel. What a great finish!
