I really really wanted to like this more than I did but I was honestly disappointed. Another reviewer said this lacked the soapy sourness of other bourbons, yet somehow that is exactly the taste I get from this. There’s a sweet and sourness on the nose that to me seems to give way to bitter bell pepper notes on the palate. In my newbie opinion the cherry-vanilla-spice-char that I expect to get from bourbon is missing. I’m not finished with it yet though so let’s see if I come around :-)

Catoctin Creek Rabble Rouser Bottled in Bond Rye
Rye — Virginia, USA
Reviewed March 10, 2020 (edited May 19, 2020)Definitely that rye spice but it comes behind a lovely vanilla character. Dry woody finish. A little splurge but I’d buy another glass. -
