Tastes

Hot. Nose is filled with ethanol, sweet caramel. It's hard to pick out other highlights... Atleast with my current palate. Taste: Peanuts, vanilla bean. Oily mouthfeel. Finish is long and dry. Nutty.

At 90 proof it is a balanced dram that reminds me of an aromatic tobacco. Cherry and cinnamon spice blended with classic caramel and vanilla. The heavy oak flavor was dominant though. The lower proof keeps this one a pleasant sipper, but nothing special in my book, especially at the price point.

Light scent of almond extract and sweet cherry on the nose. Not overpowering and incredibly inviting. Spicy like a good rye should be. Black pepper, baking spice and a hint of vanilla on the palate. The finish lingers with a tannic oily coating of the tongue that seems to hint at this rye being younger in age. All together a great rye for sipping.
