Tastes

Bloody good. Lovely rounded depth and richness, I guess for the Sherry casks. Nice spice hints. No harshness. Getting almost banana on the palette.

Nice sweet hit on the nose. Slightly Smokey on the finish. Not much in the middle?

So my whisky journey begins. Begins early, after making a list of bottles to start with and then seeing monkey shoulder for £22 in supermarket. I had heard good things online about this whisky so had to proceed! On the nose I’m getting a nice sweet vanilla. I also notice a more buttery scent just after swirling the glass as another reviewer mentioned. Slight spicy note. Personally not getting any orange/fruit. Taste- sweetness hit, nice full bodied taste. Deep Vanilla/caramel. I would second others on harshness, but this seems less noticeable with bigger sips! Overall a nice sweet, rich and slightly spicy character!

Sweet butterscotch and vanilla custard on the nose. But doesn’t carry through for me. The empty glass after I’m finished smells even better.

Fresh, citrus, kick

Harsh taste. Almost chemical-like. Saw on offer in Aldi thinning it was a bargain but regret buying.

Hints of honey. Smooth with minimal harshness.
