High West High Country American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Utah, USA
Reviewed April 28, 2022Good. Tastes like a sweeter highland or speyside. I think some of the sweetness takes away from the barley notes but it’s alright. -
Macallan Edition No. 6
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 24, 2022 (edited July 26, 2022)Sherry. Dried fruit. Toffee. Dried fruit. Sweet caramel. Dried fruit. Did I say dried fruit? Classic macallan. Hate the term “smooth”, but it’s smooth. Not my cup of tea being a sherry bomb, but if you get a chance to try this bottle, you don’t say no. Mouth feel is good. Vanilla lingers in the aftertaste. Would drink this again. -
Sagamore Spirit 'Sagamore Reserve' Double Oak Rye (2017 Limited Edition Release)
Rye — (bottled in) Maryland, USA
Reviewed April 16, 2022 (edited September 15, 2022)First “Maryland style” whiskey. Rye forward. Astringent, spicy finish, little hints of sweetness. Not overly spicy rye but somewhat forgettable. Also, MGP sourced. -
Whistlepig 10 Year Small Batch Rye
Rye — (bottled in) Vermont, Canada
Reviewed April 9, 2022 (edited July 5, 2022)Spicy immediately. Citrus, vanilla, cayenne, sweet. Some numbing sensation appearing too. Flavors have short finish while spice lingers for awhile. -
Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 13
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed March 17, 2022 (edited March 18, 2022)Too high a proof for my personal preference neat. Would like to retry cut with some water to bring out the underlying flavors a bit more and reduce the astringent flavor. Can see the potential but not my preference when neat.
