Tastes

I actually like this more than the people I’m tasting with. It’s not overwhelming spice and sweet. It certainly is a little spicy and sweet but also some cereal, caramel, and apricot come through. It’s not bad at all.

Forgettable.

Smells milder than it tastes. Sharp and hits hard. Can feel the alcohol, and it dominates. I’ll give it extra rating because it does stand out as different - it’s hot and you know when you’re sipping on it.

Good. Tastes like a sweeter highland or speyside. I think some of the sweetness takes away from the barley notes but it’s alright.

Sherry. Dried fruit. Toffee. Dried fruit. Sweet caramel. Dried fruit. Did I say dried fruit? Classic macallan. Hate the term “smooth”, but it’s smooth. Not my cup of tea being a sherry bomb, but if you get a chance to try this bottle, you don’t say no. Mouth feel is good. Vanilla lingers in the aftertaste. Would drink this again.

First “Maryland style” whiskey. Rye forward. Astringent, spicy finish, little hints of sweetness. Not overly spicy rye but somewhat forgettable. Also, MGP sourced.

Spicy immediately. Citrus, vanilla, cayenne, sweet. Some numbing sensation appearing too. Flavors have short finish while spice lingers for awhile.

Alright. There’s light floral notes, some cereal, a hint of peat, and finishes with some spicy sherry. All in all, a lot of flavors in one sip, but doesn’t bring it all together.

Too high a proof for my personal preference neat. Would like to retry cut with some water to bring out the underlying flavors a bit more and reduce the astringent flavor. Can see the potential but not my preference when neat.

Hot mouth feel, all over coating. Feel this all over the mouth. Rich.
