Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 Year Batch 1 (2019)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed May 28, 2022 (edited July 19, 2022)Nose is similar to any ardbeg of smoke, peat, and campfire. Fills the area with the best smell in the world. Once you move past that, there’s distinct tropical fruits. Palate is more subdued than other ardbegs, the same peat, fruit, and some sherry comes through, but it’s so much more balanced. Paprika, chocolate, peat, smoke, excellence. More time in the barrel only helps here. The finish is classic ardbeg, but more controlled and mature. Wow, wow, wow. -
Astringent, spicy, fruity, peaty, smoky, oaky, berries, peppers, ash - all at once. It does feel like a whirlpool in the mouth. Hard hitting mouth feel, lights up the taste buds but also subsides fairly quickly. The peat, smoke, and tannins linger as usual with ardbeg, but the all over mouth feel disappears quickly. Second sip is cherries, stone fruit, numbing sensation, warmth, spice - wow. Not a forgetful dram. Also, 114 proof certainly makes you perk up. Ardbeg is already my favorite distillery and this is quickly becoming one of my favorite offerings from them. It’s a punch to the senses and I love it.

Remus Repeal Reserve Series V (2021 Medley)
Bourbon — Indiana , USA
Reviewed April 28, 2022 (edited May 22, 2022)Very, very good in my opinion. Maple, vanilla, birthday cake, pepper, rye spice, oak, grain. Never said this before on a whiskey but getting a hint of anise. Big fan. -
Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye (2021 Release)
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 28, 2022Great. I’m not a huge fan of rye but would be a bigger fan if they were all like this. Most michter products are good from what I’ve had. This is sweet and fruity but has that beautiful rye spice in taste. I have no right to say this, but I’m getting pear through this and it’s lovely.
