Westland American Oak American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Washington , USA
Reviewed June 2, 2019 (edited June 3, 2020)Not a scotch/single malt fan, but I have to say I was impressed by this. Nose and Palate of roasted coffee beans covered in dark chocolate. The roasted note stays with you on the finish, which was lasting enough to my liking. Will definitely purchase a bottle! -
New Riff Single Barrel Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 25, 2019 (edited June 3, 2020)Nose reminded me of sugar or shortbread cookies, with some leather but only at the end of the pour. The palate starts with vanilla bean and baking spices, moves on to dry fruits and then back to the first notes. The pleasant high proof stays with you for a while, from the nose all the way to the finish. The finish is long and the flavors keep on coming at you. Only downside was that it left my tongue dry at first, but only on the first two sips. Overall, I was not expecting this to be so good. Really recommend having this in your collection. -
Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 28, 2019 (edited June 3, 2020)Nose is typical oak and caramel. Palate is minty, citrusy, and spicy at the start. Got more corn when first sipped, although brief, it was more than what I would have liked. Astringent finish that stays with you for a while. -
Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 10, 2019 (edited June 3, 2020)Sweet, chewy, brown sugar and oak smell, loved it! Palate was dry for me, think leather and oak, not as sweet as the nose lead me to believe it would be, but still good. Also, maybe a faint taste of dried almonds, although I’m always looking for nutty notes. Was also expecting a fuller, chewier mouthfeel like Bookers or EC Barrel Proof because of the nose, although these bad boys are 10+ point higher than Rare Breed. Ironically, first sip after adding 2 drops of water I got a bit fuller mouthfeel... weird, I know. I feel like I’m being hard on it because of the high expectations I had, but in reality, this is a good bourbon I would always have in my bar. New bottle, taken neat on a Glencairn glass. -
Corn oil and vegetal smell on the nose, got a bit of corn starch smell but only after my brother in law mentioned it lol. These notes continue on the palate and not much more happens, goes down way too easy. There is a very faint pleasant taste in the back(fruit) that I couldn’t quite identify that says this might benefit from a few more years inside the barrel, as I’m pretty sure my bottle is not a day older than the minimum 2 years stated by grey skies. Kind of reminded me of hudson baby bourbon, which I’m not a fan. Taste too young for my liking.

Reviewed April 5, 2019 (edited April 7, 2019)Lots of fruit on the nose, with just a passing hint of the port wine. Raisins, raisins and more raisins on the palate. Heat and spice on the medium to long finish. A favorite of mine! -
Jim Beam Signature Craft 12 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 5, 2019 (edited May 1, 2019)Basic Bourbon scents of vanilla, oak, spice and caramel, but very elevated and more pleasing than other Bourbons, great, great nose! These continue on the palate, spiciness stays with you on the finish. Another very good product from Jim Beam! -
Carjaker's Cask Strength Handcrafted Aged Rum
Aged Rum — Puerto Rico
Reviewed March 23, 2019 (edited March 24, 2019)A bourbon lovers rum. All the strong classic notes of barrel proof bourbon on the nose, from oak, vanilla, caramel, and for me, even some marshmallow. Lots of oak, caramel, toffee, butterscotch on the palate, wish these notes stayed around a bit longer. Great mouthfeel, very rich. Fresh minty astringent finish. Absolutely amazing. -
Jim Beam Signature Craft 12 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 1, 2019 (edited March 2, 2019)NOSE: Light corn and salty smell at the beginning. A hint of green apple which quickly went away. After some time in the glass, I started getting the classic oak, char, caramel, vanilla scents. PALATE: Light buttery corn continues on the palate, dryness. Did not get the sweetness others got. FINISH: Medium. Dryness continues on the finish, like that of a mouthwash, but in a good way, not over astringent. Got spices, a pleasant burn and maybe a hint of dark chocolate. Some of these notes are not what Im used to or those I prefer. That being said, I was surprised to how much I liked this.
