Nose: Neutral with oak and grain. Palette: Inoffensive oak and good smoke, but no distinct flavours. Verdict: Allright but nothing special. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX !Bonus review of VINTERÖK! Nose: Smoked salmon and oregano Taste: very sharp pine resin smoke that settles down after a bit and goes over to a more deep malty taste. Verdict: Too harsh and fishy, sorry Sweden. 2/5

Only had a small sample, so hard to judge fully, i will probably seek it out again. Nose is fruity with notes of apples and tangerine, but also heavily peated. Hits the palette with a flood of oily peat and pepper. Eventually the finish goes to, oak, vanilla and caramel, but with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Inconclusive review.

Hibiki Harmony Japanese Harmony Master's Select
Blended — Japan
Reviewed October 31, 2017 (edited January 29, 2019)First off, the Hibiki bottles are a work of art in themselves, and one I have coveted as a display piece for a while. The glass stopper is especially luxurious as, sadly, many japanese whiskies come with metal screwcaps. The color is a deep amber, and the nose is light, floral and with hints of rosemay, and undertones of raisins and candied orange peel. The palette is mainly sweet, but not overwhelmingly so, and nicely balanced with the sizzle of the alcohol. There is a mild and creamy feeling to it, like white chocolate, with subtle notes of orange blossoms and vanilla. The finish is long and with a pleasant mild oakyness. Highly recommended as a dessert dram after "light" meals, or to seduce attractive companions. -
Glenfiddich Select Cask
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed July 25, 2017 (edited February 10, 2018)Baseline Speyside for beginners and ladies, but lets take it for a spin anyway. Sampled neat with 3 drops of Norwegian springwater to boost the flavour. Nose is mild and intriguing, cereal, mango and pears, raisins and a little smoke to finish off. This is desert and I wanna be all over this lady. Taste: Smooooth and sweet, first sip packs heat and the rest goes down gently. notable oak, pears, sherry and vanilla and some tangey peat that sadly takes the high road way too soon. I stand by my prediction, terrific for beginners, but I miss depth. -
Bruichladdich Black Art 1990 04.1 Edition 23 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed June 13, 2017 (edited September 19, 2017)Sweet on the nose with peach, orange blossoms, and a bit of oat if you look deep. Warm and welcoming sensation. Added 1 drop of Norwegian springwater. Taste is complex but balanced, I mostly pick up grain and a bit of anise, eventually lemon and a deep dark vine, possibly sherry. Starts out smooth, but the heat and pepper eventually builds up. Aftertaste is a warm dry peat with tannins, that lingers for a while. Inconclusive, dark and mysterious. 4 Stars for the craftmanship, though 3 for my personal tastes, bit too much grapeskin. -
Octomore 07.2/208 Cask Evolution
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed June 9, 2017 (edited September 1, 2018)Nose: It's peated, but not sharp or burning despite the alc. grassy and leathery notes, all the best parts of a stable. Taste: The first jolt is an intense peaty sweetness and then the sharp alc. comes, followed by copper, like it literally knocked a tooth out. Enjoyable, but I miss depth, must investigate further. -
