One of the best ryes for the price when you can find it. Complex layers, sweetness that isn't overpowering, the right amount of spice, and all with a high proof. The best way to drink it is with your friends. 2022: I lowered my rating on this with some of the more recent bottles I've tasted. It's still a top tier rye for me when you can get it at retail, but the quality and complexity of these has diminished.

Without an ice cube, this is more like a 3.0. However, with a cube, this becomes a 3.5 and to my palate, tastes similar to Weller Reserve. It's a great budget bourbon. Pure Kentucky is very similar to Weller Reserve, and some like it more. The only negative is sometimes I get an aftertaste of sweet and low, but not always.

Spent a little extra for my birthday at a bar to taste this one and I have to say, I was not disappointed. It does have a little more burn on the back end than expected, but other than that, it's worth the money for a pour if you can find it. I'll remember the nose and taste forever. Nothing like it.
