Tastes

Nose: floral, fruity Taste: floral, fruit, sweet, vanilla The floral bit is not especially appealing to me, but it is improved over the Yellow Label. The fruitiness and touch of vanilla is pretty good for my tastes. Definitely a good sipper. Hoping to try the single barrel or select bottles next.

Nose: sweet, spice, oak, light licorice, light leather Taste: sweet fruit, pepper spice, oak Winner of a blind tasting among 12 sample bottles for me. The high-rye content brings out some great flavors and balances really well with the fruity sweetness. Amazing value.

Nose: light oak Taste: oak, slightly sweet, floral Not as impressive as I thought it would be. As mainly a bourbon drinker, this is missing a lot of what I look for. Found it on clearance for $55 and wouldn't pay more for it.

Nose: green grape, oak, floral, light mint Taste: floral, fruity, light, honey Purportedly created to be made with a Highball (ginger ale) and I have to agree that it's great in one. I wouldn't really drink it neat, but the green grape is pretty interesting and unique.

Nose: corn, vanilla, floral Taste: honey, musty, oak A delightful surprise when I went to buy a second corn whisky. This is so light and sweet and enjoyable. Definite buy at $30.

Nose: musty, corn, slight lemon Taste: corn, vanilla, musty, sweet This is a local distillery, so I thought I would give it a shot for my first corn whiskey. It is very different, like drinking street corn. Not something I'd drink all the time, but not something I'd dismiss, either.

Nose: honey, bread, oak, vanilla, Taste: cinnamon, caramel, oak After this bottle opened up, all I can taste is cinnamon, which is off-putting. Everything else was pretty decent, but I can't finish this bottle.

Nose: oak, vanilla, caramel Taste: spice, oak, caramel A good middle of the road budget bourbon with basic notes. It was extremely difficult to find where I live, so I would rather find something more available around the same price for a daily sipper.

Nose: sweet, oak, leather, slight fruit (w/water) Taste: oak, caramel, fruit (w/water) I wanted to like this since so many people do. To me, it's too harsh. Adding water did make it taste a lot better and brought out some fruit notes.

Nose: rich maple syrup, oak Taste: maple syrup, heavy oak, light coffee, slight char At first, I didn't like this as much as the regular Woodford, as I thought it was too oaky. But the flavor I love is cranked up a few notches in this offering. Not sure the increased cost is worth getting this over the standard, though.
