Grangestone Highland Single Malt Bourbon Cask Finish
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 24, 2021 (edited November 8, 2024)The nose has a very distinct nose of wax with honeyed raisins and a slight amount of oak. The palate has a sweet, honey raisin beginning with a middle of oak that finishes out with some smokiness. An interesting characteristic of this single malt is the change from being slightly syrupy to very dry in a single sip due to the odd cask combination used here. A hint of water opens up some smokiness here. This is a Total Wine Spirits Direct single malt that claims to be double matured in American Oak and Bourbon Oak. No age statement is given, the whiskey is clearly chill-filtered, and there is most definitely caramel color added. Not great, but drinkable.24.99 USD per Bottle -
Espolòn Reposado Tequila
Tequila Reposado — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed August 24, 2021 (edited May 2, 2022)The nose is a sweet agave-funk with ethanol. A hint of earthiness is present in the nose. The palate is sweet with 3 distinct components of floral notes, pepper, and earthiness. They combine together quite nicely, and they surprise me a bit every time I sip this tequila. This is decent Tequila Reposado, but I personally prefer Centenario Reposado.22.98 USD per Bottle -
Mephisto Absinthe Classique
Absinthe — Vienna, Austria
Reviewed August 22, 2021 (edited September 1, 2022)The nose is extremely heavy on ethanol with a suggestion of anise and spice. The heat is immediately noticeable on the palate immediately with a very mild wormwood flavor and light sweetness. The mouthfeel is extremely dry, and it removes all moisture from your mouth when consumed straight. The addition of water opens up the wormwood to create a more bitter anise-forward beverage with herbal notes in the background. The spirit is slightly earthy in color and has no visible addition of green dye, although earlier bottlings may have had this green dye added. The addition of water creates a light louche effect turning the spirit into a liquid that looks like lemon juice. There is not an extreme louche effect here. Decent stuff for the price. The spirit is present at even small rinses in cocktails.32.0 USD per Bottle -
Old Grand-Dad 114 Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 21, 2021 (edited September 15, 2021)The nose is peanut and cherry with a moderate amount of oak. The ethanol is not prominent on the nose for a 114 proof bourbon. On the mouth, the heat appears almost instantly with an oily mouthfeel. There is a large presence of oak and a bit of leather along with peanut and a faint sweetness throughout. This opens up with drops of water to have a slightly honied finish with cherry and a bit of smoke becoming more prominent. This is a seriously underrated bourbon for the price point that this is offered at, and I think its something that everyone can appreciate in some shape or form with water added.21.0 USD per Bottle -
The nose is honey with dried fruits and a bit of sherry and vanilla. The taste is similar to the nose at first, and then there is a spicy evolution with a bit of ethanol flavor. The whiskey is very dry and the minerality is not great. I found success in letting the whiskey open up for 20 minutes before drinking. This whiskey is not very complex because a lot of the interesting tasting notes are dampened, but I paid a fraction of the price because a local place was selling it off. I enjoy the integrity bottling of this Whiskey very much.

The nose is very floral and slightly spicy with a hint of cane sugar. The flavor is very floral with a hint of grape and spice. A large amount of sugar is present in this liquor, and it has a syrupy mouthfeel. The liquor finishes with a violet candy flavor. Overall, this is pretty unique for liquor. It is a great addition to an aviation cocktail as it sweetens without adding simple syrup to the cocktail.20.0 USD per Bottle

The nose has hints of juniper with lavender floral undertones and a hint of peppery spice. The gin is not harshly juniper-forward on the palate which really lets some of the floral and spice notes shine through that are present. The finish is primarily bitter orange peel with floral and juniper notes hanging on. This gin sits in a unique position as a floral, American gin. In cocktails, this gin does not stand up to heavy amounts of citrus, but it pairs beautifully with herbal cocktails. With that said, I think the marketing behind this is better than the drink, and that makes the gin cost more than it should.24.0 USD per Bottle

The nose is sweet elderflower with a hint of violet. Little to no ethanol is present. The taste has the standard elderflower note of sweet and sour nectar with a hint of lemon added. A delicate, sour, bitter floral note lingers on the palate awhile after drinking. This liquor is somewhat syrupy as most elderflower liquors are. At this price point, you will have a hard time finding a better Elderflower liquor.15.0 USD per Bottle

The nose starts with a smell of cut grass with a slight amount of ethanol present. There is a scent similar to the smell of crushed gravel. The drink begins bitter with hints of cut grass, lemon, orange peel, and cinnamon. A bit of syrup taste comes out after this. The drink is decently thin. It finishes with an orange medicinal taste and some astringency. This seems like an attempt to find a middle ground between Aperol and Campari with less bitterness. The flavors do not marry as cleanly as in Campari, but it is still decent especially for the price point.15.0 USD per Bottle

Caravella Limoncello Originale
Fruit Liqueurs — Italy
Reviewed August 21, 2021 (edited June 26, 2022)Ethanol Nose with a suggestion of lemon sugar. Sweet lemony taste with a hint of spearmint and pepper. The texture is syrupy. The spirit seems to come in two parts with a sweet lemony note at the beginning followed by a slightly bitter ethanol finish. Not terrible for the cost but the liquor is not exceptional on its own.18.0 USD per Bottle
