Tastes

The Macallan is one of my Dad's old favourites and one of the first single malts I ever tasted (thanks to my Dad). Its smooth and mellow taste appealed to me and has pretty much determined my whiskey pallet to this day. A staple in my household that I'm comfortable with sharing with most people, even those who profess to not like whiskey, because this can start to change people's mind due to its smoothness.

Such a beautiful and smooth whiskey, first tasted at the Whiskey Museum in Edinburgh, and I had to get my hands on a bottle. Definitely one to savour, with a sweet aroma and a wonderful velvet-like finish that lasts for a long time. #1 in my Top Shelf without a doubt. It resides well out of sight in the back of the cupboard under the stairs, and only shared with my father and my father-in-law...and even then it has to be their birthdays to warrant a snifter! Even my wife doesn't get to drink this. My bottle is aged 13 years.

For what it is, Famous Grouse is my favourite supping whiskey. Normally mixed with water, it's my staple, "everyday" whiskey, and good value for money. It's also the one that comes out when guests visit who don't appreciate the good stuff. :)
