Lots of raisin, sherry and orange on the nose. The ex bourbon casks really come out on the palate along with cherry and honey. Fairly viscous so that is pleasant. Finish is long and sherry sweet. I give a 3.25 because I am a peat head so something like this could never be above a 3.5 for me, but it will be a treat to have at my bar for most other guests who don’t share my view on peat! My scale.. 1- Freshman year on campus stock 2- Senior year off campus stock 3- First year out of college stock 4- Now we’re talking 5- I’d rather just look and admire than drink it65.0 USD per Bottle

Very tasty. A sweeter version of Corryvreckan with softer peat. Think a smoky raisin nose with a sherry berry oily mouthfeel and a sweet soft lingering burn on the finish. My scale: 1- Freshman year on campus stock 2- Senior year off campus stock 3- First year out of college stock 4- Now we’re talking 5- I’d rather just look at it than drink it You can fill in the in-between a as you could imagine.83.0 USD per Bottle

Laphroaig Càirdeas 2017 Cask Strength Quarter Cask Edition
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed April 30, 2020This is a better one than the 2018, but still falls to the Lore or even the 10. What is very interesting about this one is a coconut note that you get and it has a nice body to the palate. Smoky and briny that we know and love from Laphroaig, and very happy I have it on the shelf. You won’t be disappointed with the purchase and if you’re a fan of Islay, this is a great one to have in the collection. Love that tropical twist on the peat monster Laphroaig. However, I love the band aid taste of the 10 which this lacks, although this one is just on another side of the Laphroaig spectrum. -
Laphroaig Càirdeas 2018 Fino Cask Finish
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed April 30, 2020 (edited February 17, 2022)First off, I’m a big peat head. Although this is a tasty dram to sip on, I prefer the 2017 Cairdeas over this one for more body to the sip, and it doesn’t necessary hold a candle to the basic Laphroaig 10 which I would take any day over this for nearly half the price. That being said, it has a very briny nose which is nice, and the sweetness of the scotch overall is not something I would turn away. I would tell you that I get a seaside mist and barbecued meats out of it, but that wouldn’t surprise you from a Laphroaig and it’s all subjective anyway. As far as Laphroaigs are concerned, buy yourself two 10s or a Lore instead. Much more worth your $. -
Lagavulin 12 Year (2018 Special Release)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed December 21, 2019 (edited May 28, 2020)You can smell the smoke the second you pop the cork. A whirlwind of sweet peaty smoke and iodine on the nose before it burns your nose hairs from the cash strength. Take a small sip and the peat hits you and get similar tones to the 16, but not really as smooth. Nonetheless, still a smoke tasty treat.150.0 USD per Bottle
