Not as approachable as the 12-year but I probably need to revisit this one now that I've started appreciating cask-conditioned whiskeys. A good sport, inoffensive, a totally passable and fine member of the Redbreast family. For me though, the extra smoky funk was not worth the price premium that the extra three years command.

A fine companion for Redbreast 12, but the Lustau casks did not do very much to change the profile. Luckily Redbreast 12 is a great whiskey on its own, so a little bit of cask-conditioning couldn't ruin it - I was just expecting a little more complexity and nuance rather than feeling like the back of my mouth got painted faintly dark rose.

An ideal mid-range Irish whiskey. Clean and sweet, a little sting to it. Fruit, honey, some smoke, but very few soapy or turfy flavors.

My absolute favorite special-occasion Irish. Sweet like candy, fiery enough to enjoy. No funky or unpleasant flavors anywhere in the bouquet or finish, just a clean and brilliant golden fire.
