Glendalough 13 Year Mizunara Finish
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed March 4, 2018 (edited March 29, 2019)Dramfest `18. not a standout but to fair I was more than 30 whiskies in at that point so I'll have to try again some time. :-) -
Not to bad. Tried at Dramfest 18 and I'd give it a 3.25. My palate was getting a bit stuffed though so might be higher on a good day. Spectrum was definately better Ok update 2 years later Dramfest 2020. Woah now this was awesome, not sure why I gave it such a low score prior but on both festivals I tried it at the end of day two many many drams in so highly likely I mixed up my notes. This was really good dram. Not in the league of Chairman's reserve but 4.25 to 4.5 territory easy..

Amrut Intermediate Sherry
Single Malt — Bangalore, India
Reviewed March 4, 2018 (edited May 22, 2019)It was at the end of dramfest `18 I tried this so my palate was probably getting a bit stuffed. I'll placehold 3 for now and I have another sample at home to more properly explore which I'll open over the next few months. Update several months later. Yeah my palate was stuffed this is much better than a 3. 4 I reckon. Beautiful rich burnt toffee sherry and that was without water. It does have a slight odd artificial taste though, not cherry but something similar which bugs me a bit. -
Tullibardine 228 Burgundy Finish
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 4, 2018 (edited March 5, 2018)Dramfest '18. Nice faint wine influence. Not bad for the price -
Laphroaig 25 Year Cask Strength (2013 Edition)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed March 3, 2018 (edited March 5, 2018)Dramfest ' 18. This whisky festival is amazing. $100USD and I've tried nearly 70 drams in 2 days. Less than $2 a dram. And yes this was one. I went there early in the morning on the 2nd day as the dram never showed up on day 1. They literally hid it behind the banner display. It was like a covert opp as she scurried behind the display and very quietly poured the 4 of us a dram. Very, very nice. Beautiful balance. Faded peat and vanilla, very subtle. 4.25. Def not worth the price at $600 USD a bottle though. Oh and to add this was the 48.9% not the 40% version -
Tullibardine 500 Sherry Finish
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 3, 2018 (edited March 20, 2020)Dramfest '18. Not to bad at all. Several drams in and it held its own. Nothing special but has rich sherry flavour. 3.75. -
Teeling Brabazon Single Malt Series 2
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed March 3, 2018 (edited March 4, 2018)I wouldn't say I'm a fan of Teeling. In fact there are much better Irish drams (Redbreast, Yellow spot, John Lane, Quiet Man etc.).This one isn't to bad though. Mild, well balanced with slight acetone. 3.5. Still doesn't scale dizzying heights. VFM not to bad at $100 USD. -
Tullibardine The Murray
Single Malt — Highland, Scotland
Reviewed March 3, 2018 (edited December 22, 2021)I don't understand why this is so lowly rated. CM and Joe are on the money. This is a quality dram. 20 was good. Sauternes was crap (prior to my Dramfest dram and then in slightly upgraded to average). This was very good. Perfect balance. I'm a sucker for first fill bourbon and this delivered. I had no idea what abv this was until the distributor told me. I was amazed. 4.25. Update I bought this for $75USD vs the $160 I thought it was. Much better VFM! -
