Tastes

This, I like. I sampled this during a Scotch tasting at a bar. A passerby stopped to tell everyone just how horrible the Laphroaig was, using words such as undrinkable. Call me crazy, but I enjoyed slowly sipping the sample. It's a light gold color, and heavy on the smoke. Almost like sipping a campfire. I will be adding this to my home bar collection.

Not something I would purchase or order at a bar. Pale gold to brass color. Almost like tasting an inexpensive vodka. Smooth oily mouthfeel. I sampled this during a Scotch tasting at a bar.

Reminded me of an Irish Whiskey, very light without a lot of nose or taste. Color was pale gold. Some citrus on the nose, but very faint. Light, smooth taste with somewhat of an oily mouthfeel. Sampled during a Scotch tasting at a bar.

It’s okay, but I’m not a fan. Color is a pale brass. Nose is a light, faint whiff of smoke. Light tasting whisky with subtle notes of medicine and grass. Sampled at a Scotch tasting at a bar.

This was the first whisky I drank neat, with no ice. At the time I admired its smoothness and easy drinking quality. However, as my experience with whisky increased I began to seek out and enjoy whiskys that were more robust, with deeper and longer lasting flavors. Maker's Mark was and remains a great gateway whisky, but it's easy to grow less and less enamored with it over time.

Lame, lamer, and lamest. Alcohol is the overwhelming impression, nothing else comes through. No smoke, no vanilla, nothing. Received as a gift, glad I didn't spend my money on this one.

I love this whisky. I first tasted it on a fishing trip in NZ. The guide offer my campanion and me the opportunity to finish off a bottle that had about 2 inches left. My campanion didn't enjoy it but I did. It was almost like drinking smoke. I drained the bottle during the two hour drive back to our cruise ship. Now, my bar is never without a bottle.
