Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 26, 2015 (edited June 4, 2015)Simply exquisite bourbon. Delicate nose of flowers and berries. Initial entry is a flood of sweet sugar and strong vanilla, undertoned by floral notes and hints of blueberry. Mid palate brings strong hints of cinnamon spice that compliment the berry tones perfectly. Finish is long and sweet. This is delicious juice, period. -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 24, 2015 (edited April 29, 2017)Another killer bottle from Buffalo Trace. Nose is sweet caramel and toffee. Initial palate brings caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and strong strawberry tones. Finish lingers long with more strawberry and just a tinge of toasted oak. This is one of Buffalo Trace's unsung heroes. If you like Blantons, Elmer T, or Eagle Rare you'll love this one. -
Excellent bourbon - better then it's big brother, Booker's, in my estimation. The nose is typical Beam family - vanilla, caramel, sweet corn. The initial palate brings a flood of sweet white sugar, vanilla, and a wonderful marshmallow taste as the barrel char begins to appear. Only slight alcohol burn, which is surprising given the high proof. On the finish, hints of toasted oak and char linger with more vanilla and marshmallow. It's a shame that this member of the Beam small batch collection gets over looked - it may be the best of the group.
