I put of tasting this stuff for years, thinking it was another 'fad' whiskey. Boy, was I wrong. This is absolutely top notch stuff. It exists somewhere between the sweetest bourbons and the creamiest single malt Scotches. An absolute joy to drink - initial mouth feel of sweet creamy caramel and toffee quickly gives way to sweet brown sugar and honey. After taste of more honey lingers and lingers. Absolutely top notch juice.

Hell of a deal for a blended Scotch. I've always preferred Walker Black in the mid-priced blended Scotch realm...until I tried this. Wow! Blows away Dewars white, and Dewars 12 year, and stands up strong to Mr. Walker's 12 year amazingly well. This is sweet, silky Scotch with nice smokey undertones- easy drinking and delicious.

This is quite good - very similar to the standard Talisker - which is also quite good - but the smokiness and saltiness are turned up a bit here. Not in a bad way- this whiskey is intense, but never unpleasant. It really does remind me of a coastal storm. Great for cold, late fall nights when the air has a bite to it and the world seems quiet.

I'm giving this a 5 star rating based on value. I can't believe the reviewer gave this an abysmal score of 65 - it's actually VERY decent Scotch for the bargain basement price. Picked this up for $21 locally. It delivers a general 'Islay' experience for an incredible price. Smell is typical Islay smoke; on the palate it's sweet and rich, if a bit thin. The aftertaste is strong peat smoke and a little saltiness. Overall, it beats the brakes off the other Scotches at the same price point (Johnnie Walker Red, Cutty Sark, etc)

Absolutely delicious. Tons of peat smoke, of course, but tons of rich, lavish black chocolate, thick creamy caramel, and deep charred sugar. Hints of creosote, but in an amazingly pleasant way. No medicinal or iodine taste that you tend to get with one of the other big Islays (Laphroag). This is amazingly good, enjoyable, AND complex whisky. It's damn hard to pick between this and Ardbeg, but I think this has the edge.
