No way should this be your go to Rye. The taste is okay, but it makes pretty flames when you dump it on a fire.

Smooth with light fruit notes. Light without a burn.

Not as smooth as JW's other blends and not as worthy a rye as true ryes. It's fine to order as a cocktail, it's fine to receive as a gift, but it's not worth going out of your way to find.

The Sherry finish aspect was throwing me off. On the nose I was picking up the fruit, but it seemed to be wrapped with a leather aspect. Smooth and wonderful on taste. I'm definitely picking up on the Sherry with a fruit aspect. The raisin does come come out at the end. Possibly Raisinnette, but with a good chocolate.

My peaty go to when I don't have Lagavulin or Laphroaig on hand. A little bit of a burn on the swallow, still quite enjoyable.

Nasty, just plain nasty! On the first taste my throat tightens in pain. I'm extremely disappointed, especially after I truly enjoyed the Portuguese Smooth release.

I think I have found my new cheap, go to Scotch. Mind you, this will be unseating my old realizable Dewar's White Label. Costco's blend has gotten some good reviews, for its cost point and I'm in agreement. The nose may not impress you, but on the palate the body is full with round fruit notes. The bottom line, I can pick it up for less then Dewar's White any time I want.

Yes, it's Makers Mark, but then again... I get an essance of orange on the nose. The 101 does bring on the burn, but it's smooth and well rounded.

Definitely a bit of leather on the nose with just a hint of peat(?). The anticipation for the taste following the nose is JUSTIFIED. The complexity of the taste is a joy.

I think I get a hint of seaweed on the nose, but that's it. The taste leaves me somewhat flat. Maybe that's what it picked up being in the bottom of a ship. I'm with the "it's a gimmick" tasters on this one.
