Ohishi Brandy Single Cask Whisky
Other Whiskey — Japan
Reviewed March 13, 2018 (edited April 20, 2021)This is almost brandy. It smells like sweet apples and dry white wine. The barrel shows on the palate with some vanilla, caramel and a bit of oak alongside the green apple and grape. -

Wasmund's Single Malt
American Single Malt — Virginia , USA
Reviewed February 26, 2018 (edited April 14, 2019)Smells like wood spice, but not oak. Similar to Cleveland Black Cherry Wood Finished Bourbon. Then smoke appears along with a malt funk. Smells young. The taste starts off with that bold spice and slight sweetness from I what I assume is the apple and/or cherry wood. Then the smoke starts to build. Then the malt breaks through. It finishes heavy with young wood and smoke. This single malt is quite unique and interesting, but I feel it's a bit of a novelty. There's something missing. Maybe more age would make this better. It's definitely worth sampling at least once. -
Glengoyne 18 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 26, 2018 (edited April 24, 2018)This is my kind of single malt! No peat. Smells of dry fruit, malt, and a bit of toffy and citrus. Tastes like malt heavily bathed in sherry. Fruity, just enough sweetness to balance the savory, funky malt. Finishes with a good dose of round oak and a bit of sweetness and malt. Hardly any tannin bitterness. It lingers for quite a while which lets you enjoy it even between sips.
