Tastes

Quite relaxed for a rye. Sits a bit further back in the mix and allows a nice blending of flavors rather than a super intense experience. Doesn’t work as well in cocktails because of it, but neat it is excellent. I prefer spicy, earthy ryes, but the way this flips my preferences on their head and still manages to be excellent is still great.

This is a solid rye that works in whatever context you put it. Neat, rocks, with a bit of water, or in a cocktail—this thing works great for the price. Spicy but only as much as the malt bill suggests, texture is oily and coats the mouth generously. It’s a good all-rounder that would be a great starter without much need to upgrade.

Very strong in a way that comes through too much to be very enjoyable. The price is very right though: this is a good enough, inexpensive barrel proof bourbon. The nuttiness complelents the caramel well. Good for a strong Old Fashioned.

Spicy front gives way to a smooth and sweet vanilla finish. Spice lingers a bit but in a good way. This is a much better bourbon than the small batch; the proof is just about right for me too. For mixing it’s a good in-between because of its spicier profile. Solid, solid all-rounder.

Lots of vanilla on the finish. A little rough around the front end though. Sweet with a bit of spice but not in a way i particularly enjoy. Works well as a mixer though.
