The Glenrothes Vintage Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 20, 2017 (edited September 9, 2017)Rich caramel and vanilla hit the nose right away. A mild maple and fruity middle tones find their way at the end and on the tongue. This is a solid single malt for the price. (FWF share #3) -
Initially hits a bit hard at the back of the throat then centralizes toward the center of the tongue. Second taste was sweet toward the end and the third was warm and sweet with a short and vanishing finish. For some, this one might be a tad too medicinal. It's grown on me and I have to say, it's a solid alternative when you're in the mood for something different. (FWF share) Buy #2 Opened: 3/7/19 Finished: 8/14/1935.0 USD per Bottle

Masterson's Straight Rye Whiskey 10 Year
Rye — Canada
Reviewed December 28, 2016 (edited April 13, 2018)There's just something about Masterson's Rye. I don't know if it's a sense of nostalgia, it being one of the gateway whiskeys that got me into whiskey in the first place, or whether it is a genuinely solid product that compels me back for more. It's distinctly rye with sweet with solid spice. It has more body than other ryes I've sampled and this sense of "I know exactly what I am." That confidence is loud and undeniable. This is one of my personal favorites. (FWF share #1) -
