Templeton Rye 4 Year
Rye
Templeton // Indiana (bottled in Iowa), USA
Templeton Rye is a rye brand that was introduced in 2006. Distilled in Indiana by MGP (formerly Lawrenceburg Distillers of Indiana), the rye is made from a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% barley.
The whiskey is bottled in Iowa after the addition of a "proprietary formula" as well as local purified water. Templeton broke ground on a distillery in Iowa in 2017 with plans to distill their own whiskey.

RyeUnlike bourbon, rye whiskey can be made anywhere in the world. But if made in the US, the mash bill recipe must be at least 51% rye and it must be aged in new, charred oak barrels with no age requirement. Elsewhere, the rye whiskey will be made keeping the country of origin's rules regarding the recipe and minimum aging.

Tasting Notes
"Tasting notes on this rye differ from batch to batch, but Templeton always keeps a nice nose of woods, spice, and heat. A light middle of the tongue burn gives way to caramel notes, Red Hots and a touch of brown sugar. Quick to moderate finish keeps with the nose and brings back the nice taste of wood."
