Has the base Willett profile for sure, but it comes across with a very medicinal cough medicine type taste that is off-putting. Not awful, but I wouldn't reach for it if given other options.

Mint, brown sugar, grain, and a savory fastfood burger note on the nose sometimes. Genuinely hard to place. Not a "slap you" bottle but a "make you think" bottle. Solid re-buy on uniqueness alone.

Woodford Reserve Double Oaked has the most distinctive bourbon nose I've encountered. Banana bread meeting molasses and BBQ sauce, with coffee lurking underneath. It's weird, it's sophisticated, and it's very good. The palate delivers exactly what the nose promises, which is rarer than you'd think.The catch? That 45.2% ABV shows up as thin viscosity, and the finish can turn tannic and watery when you're not expecting it. Inconsistency on the back end keeps this from perfection. But here's the thing: at $60, Woodford Double Oaked punches so far above its weight that the flaws feel forgivable.

Tastes very young. I was excited by this one from the tasting notes on the bottle. I did get some of the chocolate and oats alluded to on the label, but unfortunately it was heavily masked by alcohol harshness. I think this should have been made with some older stuff.

Nice wood and cherry notes. Sometimes the cherry can come across a little strong and borders on a cough medicine note instead which can be a little off-putting. Definitely good for the price point.

Strong oak flavors. Is it good? Heck yeah. Is it worth the price? I think if you like the flavors here it might be worthwile to take a sip of Dickel 15 year and see if you are okay with the additional mineral/vitamin taste. For about one third of the price Dickel 15 gets really close to the profile of this.

Very good. Not very common to find this in Colorado so was super happy to finally get this locally. Reminds me a lot of Buffalo Trace products, which is kind of surprising since this is from Michter. Lots of fruit notes, especially orange zest, and a hint of vanilla. This blows the standard Michter's sour mash out of the water.

Probably the best bourbon I've ever had. They've gotta bring this one back.
