Tastes

Tastes very young. I was excited by this one from the tasting notes on the bottle. I did get some of the chocolate and oats alluded to on the label, but unfortunately it was heavily masked by alcohol harshness. I think this should have been made with some older stuff.

Nice wood and cherry notes. Sometimes the cherry can come across a little strong and borders on a cough medicine note instead which can be a little off-putting. Definitely good for the price point.

Strong oak flavors. Is it good? Heck yeah. Is it worth the price? I think if you like the flavors here it might be worthwile to take a sip of Dickel 15 year and see if you are okay with the additional mineral/vitamin taste. For about one third of the price Dickel 15 gets really close to the profile of this.

Very good. Not very common to find this in Colorado so was super happy to finally get this locally. Reminds me a lot of Buffalo Trace products, which is kind of surprising since this is from Michter. Lots of fruit notes, especially orange zest, and a hint of vanilla. This blows the standard Michter's sour mash out of the water.

Probably the best bourbon I've ever had. They've gotta bring this one back.

Smoked wood chips, lemon zest, creamed corn. Excited to see what this distillery puts out in a few more years.

Cocoa powder, root beer, imperial stout obviously. Very good.

Wow. This whiskey slaps you in the face with the port wine finish. Comes across strong in the nose and also on the palate. Sometimes I also get a maple syrup note which is a really great addition to the other flavors in there. Good stuff!
