Tastes

Malty. A less sophisticated Balvenie or Glenlivet (perhaps unsurprisingly since it is blend from a Glen & Bal). Some pleasant notes, but nothing to stand out. No doubt a strong mixer, which is where my bottle now abides in the cabinet.

Nose has a woodsy scent. Palate has prominent smoke, but just enough. Smooth--like a MacAllan 12+smoke. But add leather, possibly citrus or herbal. Lingers into the finish--peaty whiff on the finale. Viscuous, a bit oily. Pairs well with a smoky, extra dark chocolate bar.

Oak monster--wood, wood and more wood on the palate. Sweet, but not cloying. Nose: caramel and sherry; palatte: tropical fruit; slightest hint of smoke (or is it pepper) on the finish. Rewards those who give it 15-20 minutes to nose--flavors swirl and complexity really kicks up with four drops of water. A standard by which many drams are to be measured.

Smooth, with terrific balance of slightly spicy & the feintest hint of smoke. Great everyday drinker. Prefer to Breckenridge, Eagle Rare & others in that next-up price category. Great value. 5-stars if judged by its cost!
