Highland Park 12 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland

I am having a hard time loving this whisky. It has a light peatiness with a soft sweet finish. Maybe it needs more ABV to really shine. I prefer the Talisker 10. Update: I like this whisky more now. I think the issue I had was I drank it after another whisky. If I drink it first it's delicious. But I still like the Talisker 10 better.

Lot No. 40 Canadian Rye (2012 Release)
Canadian — Canada
Reviewed January 22, 2015 (edited March 6, 2015)This is an amazing rye. I taste tobacco and leather along with spiciness. It has a very solid feel, like it can hold up to dilution in a mixed drink and still pack a flavorful punch. Worth hunting down. -

Balvenie Doublewood 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 22, 2015 (edited April 24, 2018)For some reason this doesn't do much for me. It is well made and very balanced but it taste too much like bourbon for my liking. I wish it was lightly peated.
