Laphroaig Càirdeas 200th Anniversary Edition
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed October 18, 2019 (edited August 10, 2021)Tasting date: 10/18/19 ABV: 51.5% Color: gold Nose: peat, light smoke, salty with some sea air, caramel apple Palate: peaty, smoky, a little hot but didn’t overwhelm like some cask strength. Finish: long and warm, peaty and smoky Impression: classic laphroaig character with some additional sweetness. Nicely balanced at the cask strength. A little more floral with water but better neat. -
Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed October 6, 2019 (edited December 27, 2019)Date 10/6/19 Abv 44% Nose: Agree with tasting notes...orange peel, raisins, honey. Little smoke Palate: orange peel predominates and turns bitter on the finish with oak and spice. A bit hot. Finish: long, astringent orange Thoughts: nice nose, with focus on honey and maltiness. Did not get to try with cigar but suspect the smoke would balance nicely. Overpriced but good. -
Date: 9/12/19 Region: Islay Bottled at: 43% Color: Amber (color added and chill filtered) Nose: sweet smoke, sherry, cherry. Some mocha. Smoke not overwhelming and is well balanced. After some time develops a malty sweetness/carmel. Palate: medium body. Prominent sherry, some spice, grapes, dark fruits, fades to peat and smoke Finish: medium long, smokiness to okay spice Overall Has mixed reviews but I really enjoyed it. Well balanced and complex with mixed sherries flavors mingled with malty sweetness and smoke/peat undercurrent. Would definitely buy another bottle. However would be better if not artificially colored...

Balvenie Single Barrel Sherry Cask 15 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed September 24, 2016 (edited June 16, 2020)Nice amber color. Nose: sherry, dried fruits, faint hint of citrus, toasted carmel. With time more vanilla and honey. Gets better with more time in glass. Palate is medium bodied, oaky, sherries juicy fruit, hint of leather. Finish is spicy with hint of cinnamon. Not my favorite but pretty good.
