Maker's Mark 46 Cask Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 16, 2021 (edited June 10, 2021)Very nice. Pretty much what you would expect. 46 for the more experience bourbon drinker that likes a higher proof. Sweet on the nose, little oak, maybe some cherry in there too. Not super complex, but a good pour. I am a Makers fan, was not disappointed. -
I laughed when I saw the creamed corn, but it’s true. Creamed corn and alcohol. Thin, no real finish to speak of. Not sure what to say here. I don’t hate it, but feel like the presentation doesn’t match the product. Beautiful packaging, small, boutique-y. But inside is a 2 year low proof offering. It’s not bad at all for what it is. Not great for what it is presented as. Would like to see what they could do with some time.

High West American Prairie Bourbon
Bourbon — (bottled in Utah), USA
Reviewed June 29, 2020 (edited August 2, 2020)Prairie is a perfect description. Arid and medicinal. Not much more going on here. -
I am really enjoying this one. Full disclosure it is distilled right across the street from what used to be the fields where I played little league baseball. Very easy sipper neat. The nose I get is raisins and woodsy . A little, enjoyable burn. Creamy mouth feel. Will definitely be grabbing a bottle of their maple for the fall.

Spice, fruit and gasoline. Half kidding on the gasoline. This is a bottle I have had for a bit and it was about half gone. I don’t recall it being this burny when I drank it before. Looks like the picture, nothing on it to denote Total Wines, however that’s what we have in this area compared to the others I see posted. Probably the same stuff given to stores in different regions. Burn on the nose, burn on the swallow. Not impressed today.
