Aberlour A'bunadh

Old Volstead's
Bourbon — Middleburg, Virginia, USA
Reviewed October 13, 2023 (edited October 14, 2023)The nose is pretty balanced and pleasant with notes of vanilla, dried fruit, and wood. A sip gives flavors of corn, wood, vanilla, dried fruit, and a general sweetness. It's a pretty solid bourbon and generally decent, though definitely overpriced. Should probably be in the $35.00-$40.00 range, $45.00 tops.48.99 USD per Bottle -
Glenlivet 18 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed September 26, 2023 (edited September 27, 2023)The nose is light, fruity, and pleasant at first, however, once it opens up more, it becomes more balanced with the same notes, in addition to wood and caramel. The palate is a nice balance of apple, wood, caramel, brown sugar, and fruit. It's certainly a little thin at first, but it is refreshing and drinkable. Again, I highly recommend letting this breath, significantly more so than most scotches, as it will fill out and gain complexity. Fitting for spring or early fall. In particular, I think it's excellent for April, May, and, especially, September. -
