Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 2, 2018 (edited March 10, 2018)Wow! Review is for the old label/bottle. Supposedly older than 12 years. I compared side-by-side with the new bottle and there is a difference. This version is richer, fuller, and smoother even at a higher proof. The new bottle is still delicious but I’m glad I was able to grab a couple of these before they vanish. By adding a couple drops of water to the new bottling it actually brings the flavors a bit closer to the old bottling. It still has a bit more burn even at a lower proof. Rarely do I think some water helps but side by side with the older version it helps bring it alive. The older version is more of a hug than burn. Hopefully they get the new label to be just as good in years to come, but for now, it’s just shy of the mark. 5 ⭐️ / $109 / Saratoga Wine 4.5 ⭐️ (new bottling) / $70 / No. 1 LQ -
Barrel select. Pretty sure this is my favorite of the Weller’s, haven’t tried William Larue yet. I usually drink it neat, but this does taste REALLY good with a big cube and a twist of lemon. Prices and availability make it somewhat elusive, but not to be passed up when it appears. 4.5 ⭐️ / $49 / Beverage Warehouse / LA

Booker's Bourbon Batch 2017-04 Sip Awhile
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 1, 2018 (edited March 2, 2018)Heavy oak on the nose. I like oak but this goes a little too far. Maybe a little more pepper/spice flavor than I prefer, but not overdone by any means. I’ll check back after some more time with this stuff. 3.75 ⭐️ / Saratoga Wine / $70 -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2016-05 "Off Your Rocker"
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed March 1, 2018 (edited December 16, 2019)Oak on nose with some vanilla and caramel. The proof shows with a firm, friendly handshake. Taste has rich, full caramel, apple and well balanced oak that sticks through on the finish. This shit is delicious! Enjoy it more than the “Sip Awhile” version; which is delicious as well. This has less black pepper flavor for sure. Booker’s is probably always solid. I’ve only tried two so far but I see more in my future. 4.98 ⭐️ / Saratoga Wine / $70 -
Johnny Drum Private Stock Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 26, 2018 (edited August 9, 2018)Some herbal notes I’m not really into. Strong red hots flavor is kind of interesting. It’s okay but not a favorite. 3 ⭐️ / $35 / Total Wine / LA35.0 USD per Bottle -
Michter's US*1 American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — USA
Reviewed February 26, 2018 (edited March 2, 2018)Butterscotch hard candy nose and taste. Really smooth, not complex at all, quick finish. Low proof. Certainly not a bourbon but still an enjoyable sipper. 4.0 ⭐️ / $43 / Beverage Warehouse / LA -
Hancock's President's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 26, 2018 (edited November 24, 2018)Caramel on the nose, caramel and vanilla taste with a subtle apple finish. Side-by-side to ETL, I can’t really taste a difference. Maybe a slightly thinner mouthfeel and a slightly longer finish. Great substitute for the ever elusive and/or overpriced ETL. 4 ⭐️ / $47 / Total Wine / LA
