Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 28, 2015 (edited August 23, 2017)Definitely an enjoyable bourbon to sip on. I would probably give it a 3 star if it wasn't such a good value for the $32 it costs. I'll definitely pick up another bottle at that price. -
Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 25, 2015 (edited July 22, 2017)As far as single barrel bourbons go, this is tops. I'm a huge fan of its depth of flavor. The finish is long and the flavor and aromas of the whiskey last all the way through. Lots of spice, some oak and leather scent on the nose along with a great touch of char/smoke. Deep sweetness that isn't overpowering and of course lots of vanilla. The nose has just a bit too much alcohol on it for me but if you add just a couple drops of water to open it up, it's really an incredibly complex whiskey. One that I am always happy to have on the shelf. -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2015-01 "Big Man, Small Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 23, 2015 (edited July 22, 2017)Ok. There's Bookers and then there's Bookers Batch 2015-1. Best bourbon I've had, easily. I tried it neat first but at almost 130 proof it had quite a bit of burn to it. Adding a single ice chip to it to soften that and opened up the whiskey like an explosion of caramel syrup. The palate is full bodied with oak and spices. The finish ghosts in after a few seconds with leather and oak and cinnamon. -
